VAT: VAT in Argentina amounts to 21%.


TAX FREE: At the airport, and on departure day, you may request to be refunded the Value Added Tax (VAT) paid for articles purchased in shops having a sign reading: TAX FREE. To that purpose, you should keep all invoices or tickets and fill out a form you may request at the Airport.

Exchange

RATE OF EXCHANGE: The exchange rate in Argentina is convenient for the foreign tourist. The main banking area is located in the so-called “city”. This area comprises the first five blocks (numbered 100 to 500) of San Martín, Reconquista, 25 de Mayo, Sarmiento, Presidente Juan Domingo Perón and Mitre streets. The U.S. dollar is accepted in most shops, but it is convenient to exchange them for pesos in casas de cambio or banks.

Money




CURRENCY: The Argentine currency is the peso ($). There are $ 100, $ 50, $ 20, $ 10, $ 5 and $ 2 notes, and 1, 0.50, 0.25, 0.10 and 0.05 cent coins. The U.S. dollar is the most common foreign currency. Banks and casas de cambio (currency exchange offices), where you must present your passport, exchange foreign currency. Shops accept credit cards and dollars.

Rivadavia became the first national president in 1826. Previously, as secretary to the first triumvirate, he requested that all provincial governors collect natural specimens and objects in order to create a museum which, in 1823, became the first public museum in the country. It later received the name of Museo de Ciencias Naturales (Natural Science Museum). It has stood on its present site since 1931.

The Weather - Buenos Aires


The climate of Buenos Aires is mild all year round. The mean annual temperature is 18º C (64.4º F), making extremely hot and cold days very infrequent. Thus, visitors can enjoy walking around the city in any season. July is the coldest month. Although frosts are rare, a woollen coat, a jacket or an overcoat. In summer, the weather is hot and humid. Rains are more frequent in autumn and spring (from March to June and from September to December,respectively).

Metropolitano Museum

It is located in the Anchorena Palace built in 1928.Its patrimony comprises a collection of engravings by Leonardo Da Vinci, printed in 1784 by Carlo Giusseppe Gerli and they are exhibited in the museum on dates to be determined depending on the itinerant exhibitions prepared.

Japanese Garden

The Japanese Garden in Palermo (Av. Casares 3401) is an Oriental thematic park (a 10-minute taxi drive from Puerto Madero). It has gardens and an artificial lake crossed by bridges from which the colourful fish can be fed.
